ABOUT ME

Behind every major change, I see a particular human being

Change does not remain somewhere outside us. It enters work and relationships, reshapes our decisions, social roles, identity, and our sense of the future. This human side of change is the focus of my work.

I am Maria Mazurina, a psychologist, certified Gestalt therapist, and speaker from Russia. My legal education and management experience help me understand the logic of complex systems. My psychological practice and Gestalt approach help me see how what happens within these systems is lived through by particular people and reflected in relationships.

I am interested in the moment when a major change becomes personal experience: when a familiar profession no longer provides a stable foundation for identity; when previous scenarios of the future lose their solidity; when difference between people becomes not the beginning of dialogue, but a threat to contact.

AI is one of the most visible examples of acceleration, but it is not the only one. It sharpens a broader question: how to use new possibilities without delegating to them our own judgment, choice, responsibility, and authorship.

At the center of my work is the human capacity to navigate uncertainty, make sense of what is happening, and remain in contact with oneself and others. As access to technology becomes more evenly distributed, strong institutions will increasingly be distinguished by the quality of their human environment — by whether a person can preserve agency, trust, belonging, and the capacity to withstand difference.

I create lectures, professional laboratories, and interdisciplinary dialogues for universities, professional and psychotherapeutic communities, and international, cultural, and public platforms. In these formats, personal experience is considered in relation to broader changes — in order to see what is happening more precisely and to formulate one’s own points of orientation.

TOPICS AND AREAS

The psychology of the human being in a changing world

I am interested not in individual technologies or trends, but in how changes in the environment enter human experience — reshaping identity, choice, relationships, belonging, and the sense of the future. In my work, this conversation develops across four areas.

01

Identity and choice in an unreliable future

What happens to personal and professional identity when familiar roles and life scenarios cease to provide a reliable map, and decisions have to be made under conditions of uncertainty.

02

Contact, trust, and belonging

How relationships, a sense of belonging, and the capacity to remain close to those who perceive the world differently can be preserved — amid fragmentation, migration, polarization, and the technological mediation of communication.

03

Human judgment and authorship

What should remain within the human sphere as technologies take over more and more tasks: choice, critical judgment, responsibility, and authorship of one’s own decisions.

04

The human being and institutions in times of change

How universities, professional communities, cultural institutions, and public institutions can not only adapt people to change, but also create an environment in which agency, participation, and the possibility of influencing what is happening are preserved.
